Why does the 1 600mg tablet not have the same affect as the 2 300mg capsules have? My lower back musles are so tight, they don't seem to relax as they did when taking 2 300mg's. I have pain all the time now, instead of, when it's been 8 hours since my last pill. Is the tablet form less in strength than caplets? Could you tell me why? Thank You
I'm used to taking 2 300mg of Gabapentin 3 times a day, my Dr. decided to put me on 1 600mg tablet?

I also have had the same experience with the same dosage of gabapentin capsules versus a tablet. I don’t believe a medical professional actually responded to the original question?
The milligrams are the milligrams. It just gets packaged in different sizes to help with prescribing. This is a huge dose and over what my doctor says should be taken. Side effects and long term damage can result. You could experience seizures and other threatening conditions. Are you seeing a specialist or a regular doctor? Perhaps you wrote the wrong amounts?
You need a professional pain clinic to learn how to deal with your back. PT would be very helpful to loosen muscles and receive a massage. Be sure you are exercising and not spending the day sitting or laying down. Pain becomes less as we move around. It will help the tight muscles. Have you tired this?
Excuse me. I read it as 2300 and 1600. Bad eyes.
I used gabapentin for shingles. Started at 300 and moved up to 600 three times a day. There are side effects that you need to watch for. The rest holds true. Exercise helps backs. Ya gotta do it.
