How was your switch. Side effects, and all!!!
Hi theresa06,
Respectively, you may not have to wait so long. Your system already has a build up of Lexapro in it, so your Paxil may kick in sooner than the standard four weeks!
That is good news!!
(I've a brother that has taken Paxil for years and it is still quite efficacious for him, no problems, no weird side effects either. He is doing fantastic. Just thought I'd let you know about him. An effective med for someone in my family, and a good medication for so many people, theresa06!!)
Have a great evening, hope you begin to feel like yourself very soon,
Lara
Thx for the kind words and support
If u don't mind me asking what kind of issues was your brother dealing with that paxil helped did he try other meds first also how long before he saw results thx
My brother was having severe panic attacks and he was quite depressed.
It truly was a terrible time for him. We are all (my brothers and myself) prone to panic attacks and have each suffered one depressive incident. My brother is one of the calmest, coolest men you'd ever meet! He was there for me when I went thru my panic and depression. Our mum had the same, too, so it just seems to run in our family, Theresa.
Keep you chin up, time and meds will cure this, you will not be dealing with this issue your entire life!
Big hug,
Lara
Sorry Theresa, I didn't answer your question, I'm not sure what he tried before he landed on paxil, but I do know he had to try a few. If you would like I can ask him, he won't mind one bit, if it would help someone that is suffering he would be at my house to type his answer to you! But I can call him if you'd like, you let me know girl. (I had to try two before I got some help and there were so many side effects! But it was better than no sleep and pacing until I was so skinny that I didn't look like ME! I know you understand what I'm saying, it sux.)
Lara
Thanks yes I would love to know as much ax possible about your brothers meds if possible And how long it took paxil to help thx
I am about to move from 20mg Lexapro to 20mg Paxil. Any suggestions from original poster on how best to do this? Can I go from 20 to 20 without tapering and weaning?
Correction: 10mg lexapro to 20mg Paxil
Yes you will probably have to wait the same amount of time to see if it helps you, and I hope sincerely that it does.
Thank you me too how are you doing
I am doing ok currently on Celexa for GAD though so far it has only really helped my social anxiety waiting out the two full months for a definitive opinion on its effectiveness. It's the migraines thats killing me they have gotten worse since becoming unemployed. Was taking Amitriptyline for prevention but had to stop because it was making my insomnia worse even with taking Lorazepam for it. I don't want to take Topamax but I may have no choice.
Hi SphereR,
Don't you think that theresa06's Paxil may kick in quicker because she's already been taking Lexapro for so long? They both take about the same time to reach a therapeutic dose, so I really think she may be feeling quite well and very soon!
Hope you are both doing great,
Lara
