Is prednisone good to help with strep throat, along with amoxicillin?

I have strep throat and the doctor gave me amoxicillin and prednisone. Is it OK to take the prednisone? Will it help me get better faster?

Is it common for prednisone to make you itch?

I've been on prednisone for a week and oday my legs startd itching. I've scratched it so much that I have welts. Is this normal?

What about a swollen tongue as a result of predisone... 4 x daily for five days?

I was taking predisone (10mg)for three days... due to itching from poison ivy... after three days, one night I got a swollen tongue (reaction?) Any suggestions? I have had some other welts on body that went away after a few days.

Will a glass of wine interact with prednisone?

Followup to question: If the prednisone was taken in the morning at 6 am and a glass of wine taken 12 hours later, does it cause the same result or is it then changed. I understand it is probably best to not drink the wine, but what it has already happened? Just once.
