I have been given a "soft" diagnosis of both SLE Lupus and RA, but my Rheumatologist is not sure, as my ANA and related numbers are low. However, when I was put on Prednisone, my energy absolutely spiked and my joint pain was greatly relieved. So I'm wondering if that confirms the diagnosis; or if that is typical of everyone that takes Prednisone regardless of diagnosis.
Can Prednisone give a person a lot more energy if they are NOT sick?

Yes ! I have been taking prednisone for RA and it has increased my energy and relieved my joint pain.I love it but I don't want to be on it forever. It effects your adreanal glands and immune system.I am looking to try and control the arthritis by eliminating certain food
What foods are you going to try and eliminate to help arthritis?? thank you!
I am going to start by just eating veggies and brown rice and maybe a few other grains-No alcohol,caffine,coffee,dailry..everything organic, high quality protein in small amounts.I have been told I am going to have to do this for at least 6 months!Even if you are not sick prednisone will effect you.I don't want to use methodrexate and humeria..My doctor wants me to.I have a lot of cancer and heart disease in my family and i feel I will be at a higher risk to experience the side effects from these drugs
i have sle and been on prednisone in varying dosage for over 5 years. at one time they put me on 80mg a day and i was like a mouse on acid!!! i literally slept 3 hours a nite and cleaned the bathroom floor with a toothbrush!
but i do take 10mg every day and if i feel bad and double up i really have a lot of energy. i dont know if it confirms the diagnosis or not because it is an anti-inflamatory med and covers up many aches and pains that are not lupus related. but don't just let a dr tell you the #s aren't right for a dx. i was told that my ana was a false positive by 5 different dr's before they decided that was what i was dying of!
