I am so confused. I cannot find a reference with the patient instructions so I have no idea what is in the red zone. I do know one thing. You don't start a pack with an inactive pill. What kind of pills are in the red zone, sugar pills? I can see why they might tell you to do that, but I've never seen it before. All the info I find says take the first pill. Big help. What did the dr tell you to do?
Ok, It really doesn't matter if you start with an active or inactive pill. In the long run it will be the same, 21 active pills then 7 inactive pills. The start on the red insructions are if you start the pill on the first day of your period. Here is what I found if you start it any other time. Start taking LEVLEN ED on the first day of your cycle, i.e. the first day of menstrual bleeding. Take a tablet marked with that day of the week. Take your first tablet from the green section. For example, if your period starts on a Monday, take the tablet marked Monday from the green section of the pack. Then follow the days in order of the directional arrows. When you start taking LEVLEN ED your very first cycle may be shorter than usual. However, if you think about it, starting it on the red section makes perfect sense. Must be doing this too long, lol... I would do what the instructions say and just use a condom for the first 8 days.
The red zone is when your period comes, the 2 pills before the start of the red zone are sugar pills (inactive) and the red zone is 5 sugar (inactive) pills followed by 2 hormone (active) pills.. if I take the next pill following the arrows on the pack, it is a active pill which will result in me only having 3 days (approximately) of bleeding instead of the usual 5-7... the doctor told me I could begin to take them whenever, it didn't matter whether I was bleeding or not, it was the leaflet that came with the pills that told me if it was the first time taking it I had to wait until the first day of my period.
I think I figured it out, I'm just going to take the active pill the arrows point to.. I was worried about it forcing my period to stop so early, but I see many women occasionally skipping the inactive pills to avoid a period all together and they're fine.
I'm even more confused now... my doc has also prescribed Levlev ED and I had my period about 20 days ago but I want to start taking the pills to induce my period to this week or delay them to come 5th Jan onwards. I dont know where on the pill packet to start. Please help
