Hi there,
I'm 35 and this is my first experience with antidepressants. I took zoloft 50mg for 3 weeks against depression. Because of the sexual dysfunction it caused me, my doctor put me on wellbutrin xr 150mg only after 36 hours stoping zoloft.
I'm more agitated and nervous, short fused and weepy. It seems all the heavy emotions are back with total force.
I don't know if what I'm experiencing is a side effect from wellbutrin or withdrawal syndrom from zoloft. Does it mean that I can only feel better taking a drug that kills my sexuality or is it too early to come to this conclusion?
I do have more energy than before and my libido came back to normal, but I don't feel any improvement in my state of mind. (i did feel a bit better on zoloft). I am also sweating a lot during the night and waking up many times. But Zi wouldn't mind this if I'd acutually felt better. But I'm still feeling depressed and now also easily irritated, impatient and hopeless. Is this a side effect? Will it get better?
Hello danielle. Libido (lack off) is a major side effect when taking Zoloft. I believe that once the Wellbutrin takes effect, the sweating etc will have left you. Wellbutrin does well in regards to Libido. Most people do not have an issue in this area. Regards pledge

I totally agree, & also my husband takes zoloft & wellbutrin together so they could have weaned you down on the zoloft instead of having you stop it so suddenly. It may have helped. It does take awhile up to 4 to 6 weeks to get the full effects of the wellbutrin so give it some time. I do hope you get to feeling better soon...

I have been taking Zoloft for 14 years started with 50 mg an about 3 years ago went to 100 mg , I have complained to my doctor about the weight gain and she claimed that I would not gain that kind of weight from Zoloft , anyway lately I have been feeling down, started seeing a therapist and she suggested wellbrutrin , was feeling up and Down , short fuse , don't feel all that compulsion to binge eat anymore but I'm feeling extremely sluggish today very out of it no motivation whatsoever could it withdrawals from the Zoloft. I've only been on the Wellview trend for three weeks now started out the first week 150 mg and went up to 300

To the person who commented on the weight gain from The Zoloft who was recommended by their doctor to switch to Wellbutrin and was taking it for 3 weeks and having some concerns I would just say from personal experience to continue to be patient and give it a try. I know everyone is different but I personally had great success with Wellbutrin. I have taken several different prescriptions for years for anxiety and every time have had weight issues but with the Wellbutrin after having a three-month episode of depression out of the blue I had a life-changing experience and it did wonders for me. I was on it for about a year-and-a-half started working out eating better lost 75 lbs which I did slowly so I highly recommend it. I did end up switching to Zoloft For the First Time Ever After the Wellbutrin because I started to have the anxiety back and I just felt a little scattered and since the Depression was gone but then came the weight.
SO FRUSTRATING!!! Needless to say I'm thinking about going back on the Wellbutrin. I know it's not known for helping much with anxiety but if I can use some cognitive behavioral therapy and just be more proactive with the anxiety part maybe I can give it a go. Not to mention I was put on an additional medication Topamax to counteract the weight gain from The Zoloft. How can that be healthy? All that said everyone's experience is different but I hope you have given the Wellbutrin a try and have a great experience like I did. It really saved my life during a hard time and highly considering going back on it. The Zoloft helps the anxiety but the cravings and weight gain it's tough. Not as bad as other anxiety medications I've heard of out there but it still does have an effect for me at least.

You were only on the zoloft for a short time, so you shouldn't be having withdrawal. You have to give it a chance. It takes about a month for anti depressents to work. While that time passes you will have some side effects like you describe. As you get used to the med you'll stop them. Please don't stop taking it if you don't get the desired effect before a month is out.
