I have been taking lexapro for a few years now. My doc recently upped my dose to 30mg. Today, I am experiencing some shortness of breath and some weird head feelings that I normally associate with anxiety. I am 90% sure this is anxiety related, so I took a klonopin, which I guess is helping a little bit.
I was wondering if an increase of only 10mg can cause these side effects even though I was on 20mg for a few years.
Please keep in mind, I am under a lot of stress (wedding planning, signing a contract for our new home TODAY!)
Perhaps I am looking for reassurance.
Shortness of breath on lexapro?

I, just last night, also upped my dosage to 30mg... so far i am feeling a bit more awake and alert, but not too much else. I know when i was planning a wedding/getting married, I had to have atavan to occasionally calm me down. i assume that's why you take the klonopin. I am curious how it goes on the 30mg for you!
Hi! The 30mg actually wound up being a bit too much for me. My doctor wound up decreasing me back down to 20 and upping me to 20mg prozac with it. This combo has been great for me so far!
Glad it got worked out for you, I'm going to give the new dosage about six weeks unless it gets to crazy before then, we shall see. Thanks for the response!
The increase could cause this yes. The Klonipin, is that prescribed by the same Dr, and if so is this the instructions for it. Yes, the extra stress is obviously contributing, and, congrats on those things, I mean, "good stress," yes?
Yes, prescribed by same MD. He said Lexapro has helped many patients at 30mg, just not yet FDA approved.
Thank you! About to sign a contract now!
Great! Best to you. Check back anytime!
Please check with your Dr. or pharmacists and/or read the info given with it & see if it's listed as a side effect that needs attention.
Its no wonder with all you have on your plate that you would be anxious. The extra 10 could be playing into it. The max dose that is recommended is 20 mg.
