As Pam says, sertraline is FDA approved not only for depression but many anxiety disorders too.
It doesn't work immediately like aspirin for a headache. It can take several weeks to become fully effective but most people start feeling improvement as early as the first week or two.

Yes, anxiety is one of many things that Sertraline treats and treats well if that is your body metabolizes well to it which can take a while.
