My doctor prescribed Zoloft to me a few weeks ago and I am terrified to take it because of all the side effects. I've been suffering with insomnia for almost 6 months now and I just can't get any sleep. Have taken everything over the counter all natural pills and nothing seems to work. I'm at my last days that I just can't take this anymore. My body needs sleep. I want to know if this has helped anyone with insomnia and how long does it take for it to actually work. Also on your first intake of the pill what side effects that you have 4 how do you feel when you first take your first pill? Thank you guys

I have recently been given Sertraline as i am depressed with fibromyalgia. I already have insomnia, i was taking lyrica which helped me sleep but am now off that. I also take melatonin to help me sleep. It is the only 2 drugs on my long list that help me sleep, prescription sleeping tablets and over the counter ones do not work.
I have not noticed any side effects of the sertraline so far, perhaps i am slightly more alert.
I was prescribed zoloft to treat insomnia/anxiety and it has helped me. I was only sleeping 3-4 hours a night and would wake up in the middle of the night feeling very panicky. Unfortunately, it didn't start working until I was taking a dosage of 100 mg. I take my medication in the morning. Good luck
For most people sertraline is energizing, but for some it makes them tired & they take it at nite. When I took sertraline I took it in the morning & at one point I needed Xanax to help me sleep.
I take sertraline, have for two years. Take it in the morning, and I notice no side effects. I've also had insomnia, and maybe this is a coincidence, since the day I began it. I've not slept WELL for a long time, but that day it got worse and stayed worse. I do one Xanax morning and one bedtime. I wish I could get off ALL of it! I may begin to wean...
