I wanted to know if starting at a low dosage of sertraline will reduce my side effects? I want to start at 25mg instead of 50mg. I used to take it for years then came off and now going back on. I just want to reduce the side effects I get at the beginning of taking it

I think it’s a good idea to start on 25mg. I did that then moved up to 50mg after one week. I actually didn’t have too many side effects, well not nearly as many as I had on lexapro years ago!
My daughter also started on 25mg and stayed there. She said it’s just enough for her to manage her mild anxiety.
Hi. I did the same thing a few years ago. Started sertraline at 25mg for two weeks then 37.5, then 50. It did seem to help with the side effects. Had trouble sleeping for a few months but nothing else was too bad. It did take several weeks to be effective. Best of luck.
