Any helpful hints? Yes, I love the "freedom from food" that it gives me; but oh, the nausea is devastating! I feel as if I am constantly going to hurl; I can't drink as much water as I used to. The thought of food just makes me sick, but I eat anyway, because I'm hungry, and I know I need to. I am just this week taking 1 in the am, and 1 in the pm- trying to hold on, hoping that the nausea will subside.
Second week of contrave, and the nausea is debilitating. .?

I am the same way.. It veins at night and Carrie’s into the morning.. What has anybody done to help with nausea or does it go away week 3???
Bonine works. Non-drowsy Dramamine works. Try eating some protein before you take the pill. I second joining the facebook group. Tons of people there. There is always someone there who has had any problem you might have had.
I've never heard of this "Bonine" stuff; I'll definitely give it a go. . . Could not take any contrave today. Just couldn't handle the nausea. What a wuss, huh? Might do the Facebook thing, but worry bout anonymity. . .
You can find Bonine at Walmart and drug stores like Walgreens and Rite Aid. It is actually not real expensive. I don't blame you for not wanting to take the pill. I will say this, if you continue it is likely the side effects will go away. I did have some nausea, but not too bad. Hope you feel better! I understand the not wanting to be on FB. The Contrave group is a closed group. It might be worth it to open another facebook account and use that to go one there. Then no one will know who you are. Hope this helps!
Wow, hopin32, you are full of great ideas! That's awesome- headed to yoga and step class, will pick up the Bonine on my way home. And I may work on the Facebook idea, tonight, too! Thank you!
Yes, I took one day off, from the contrave. Took my am dose after 2 scrambled eggs - today, not so bad with the nausea- so far so good- I'm torn- don't know if I should take my night-time dose, or just stick with once/day.
Food is developing more of an appeal, again. I'm worried. Thanks again for your help and support. I'm so grateful!
Hi Betty, Have you tried Bonine? It works and there is no contradiction with the medication. You can get it at the drug store in the motion sickness aisle. Also lots of water even when you feel queasy it helps it to subside..
If you are on Facebook please join our group.. Contrave support group.. They have a ton of answers and encouragement for anyone on Contrave. Good luck!
Thank you, calmmoment! Very helpful- think I might!
I took something for nausea every time I got nauseated. I started to stop because of it but it stopped after two weeks.
Thanks, betty925! That gives me hope! Can you tell me what you took that helped, or is that not allowed? I tried a scopolamine patch without any improvement. I can't interact with colleagues, I am consumed by the nausea. I am not taking the second pill tonite. I'm going to go back down to one in the morning, see if I can go up to two, the end of the week. . . Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated!
I took Zofran and sometimes pepto. I am on my 5th week and some days I only take two pills and that still works for me.
Betty925:
Thanks so much for the info! Yes, I decided last night I couldn't stand the thought of taking my pm dose, so I held it. Felt so much better this am! I do plan to take the am dose, and I'll take some pepto to work with me. . . I agree. No reason to suffer to get to the "full dose" if we are having good success with half! :) thanks for the input!
