I just began my Saxenda journey yesterday with two injections under my belt. My PCP started me on the highest dose at 3.0. The first day was fine. I definitely felt less hunger or even desire to be around food... and to be perfectly honest, I didn't even to watch it on TV on one my favorite shows Chopped. None-the-less I went to bed last night perfectly fine. I woke up about 2 am absolutely freezing, shivering. I got another blanket, but between being cold and having the insomnia kick it, it was pretty rough. I do take medication to help me sleep, which surprised me when I woke up 4 or 5 times with only 3 hours of sleep. This morning was another adventure as the nausea kicked in. It wasn't enough for me to actually become sick; however, I was prescribed Zofran to help with keeping my stomach settled. The chills have made my body sore and the nausea is making me even more weary of food. None-the-less, it's one step at a time and hope that the typical side effects have similar trends of others by subsiding a bit after the body acclimates. However, I haven't read anything anywhere that indicates the intense feeling of cold is related to Saxenda... and I am wondering if others have experienced this or if it may be related to hypoglycemia. I have a call into my doctor, but I would appreciate others' shared experiences, as well.
Hi Ashley, YES... I noticed chills too. It's been about 5weeks for me now. I traveled this past week and decided to take a break. I can tell you I did not get those chills the whole time off.. My unbearable problem has been CONSTIPATION... painful. Another reason I took off this past week Thursday- Sunday.

OKAY ashleyhen13 what I sent you earlier about chills and such was all right off of the manufacture web site on drugs.com so be careful that is what it said to report to the doctor if it does happen. it's pretty new so just be very cautious. And you should let the doctor know it's in several places in the side effects of the medications before the weekend comes. and more so if it is to much tonight.

ashleyhen13; YOU have done the right thing this is the side effects when you start that say contact the doctor.(((Severity: Major
If any of the following side effects occur while taking liraglutide, check with your doctor immediately: ************************************ More common: •Bladder pain •bloody or cloudy urine •cough or hoarseness •diarrhea •difficult, burning, or painful urination •fever or chills ******************* this is me putting these next to what you were saying. •frequent urge to urinate •general feeling of discomfort or illness •headache •joint pain •loss of appetite •lower back or side pain •muscle aches and pains •nausea ***************** •runny nose •shivering ************** •sore throat •sweating •trouble sleeping ************** •unusual tiredness or weakness •vomiting
Less common: •Blurred vision •dizziness ALSO I PUT IN THE **** TO SHOW YOU THE ONES YOU WERE SAYING THEY ALSO had a list of side effects that should go away and chill's and being cold is also listed in that so the best is to do what you are doing is run these effects by your doctor and make sure that your getting the right dose. But above all of these if you get them they normally don't go away. hope this well help you some and have a good day. Chuck1957. if you can I would like to know what your doctor tells you about what you should do. thanks Chuck.

Thank you, Chuck1957. I hadn't seen chills or shivering on any lists that I have looked up. My PCP got back to me to say the nausea is common and tends to be more intense/frequent in the beginning. She said this is due to food stalling in the stomach, which help creates "feeling full" in addition to other components. In regards to the feeling cold, she said she hasn't heard any of her patients report that to her; however, if it continues to tomorrow and/or I feel it is increasing in severity or if any additional symptoms pop up, to call her immediately or go to the ER if she is unavailable or on the weekend.
She's a really good doctor who I've been with for 2 and half years so far. I've always gotten the best of care from her. Hopefully this info helps others, as well.

Hi Ashleyhen13, I started Saxenda on May 12th. I am up to 2.4mg and have been experiencing chills and fever as of May 27th. After reading your comments, I guess I need to call my doctor and let him know about this. Thank you for sharing this information.

I have always been a furnace at night (per my husband). I’m on my 4th week and my Doctor slowly increased my dosages each week so I’m just at 2.4mg, but the last 2 weeks I have also gotten chills at night. No fever just colder. I’m now sleeping with an electric blanket which has helped a lot. I keeps me from waking up freezing. Not sure why this has started but as a nurse I don’t consider this to be s major allergic reaction. Also don’t think it is hypoglycemic related because it has happened even when I ate just before bed time.
