I have been taking Ozempic for about a year. Started on 0.25 then went to .50 dose. Had mild stomach issues which got better, all except constant mild indigestion.
About a month ago my doctor raised me to the 1 mcg dose. Since then I have been eating small meals but have experienced sudden but brief vomiting episodes at least twice about 2 days after my injection.
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
All in all I was able to lower my dose of basal insulin to 8 units so far and I am seeing more consistent glucose control. My A1c has finally dropped below 7 .
I do worry about some of the serious side effects like thyroid ca and pancreatitis but all in all I have had an okay experience with this medication.
Has anyone experienced sudden vomiting after taking an injection of Ozempic?

My doctor called my prescription in. We had a zoom appointment about it. It was during Covid. I was confident when my husband brought it home & I read the instructions on how to administer it. Did it correctly.
The only problem was the prescription was for the 1 mg. starting me out on it.
Not the recommended .25 mg. that I discovered later that it was supposed to be. From the point of the first injection for the next 31 days, every time I opened my mouth to speak, I threw up! The fact that I also have a diagnosis of idiopathic vomiting & I am prescribed Phenergan and Zofran, as needed daily, did not help.
The weight that had taken me years to regain, was gone! I loss 41 pounds in that 31 days.
All I was able to keep down was Rehydrate. To keep my electrolytes up.
If it had not been for that & the fact that my vitamins & supplements are supplied through patches, I would have been hospitalized.
I made it to the other side & I am so much better for it!
I’m off all of my insulin now. My Ozempic is down to .5 mg. My A1C is 5.1 & if it continues for additional 2 more months, I will be dropping down to .25mg.
If I could gain a little of the weight back, I would be thrilled.
Either way, I am Blessed!
I sincerely hope you have made it pass this patch in your Ozempic path & that you find the results that I did!
I had been on 1mg for over a year without a single symptom and then my doctor increased my dose to 2 mg. I was immediately Ill and, for the next week, I had diarrhea and could barely eat. I went down to 1.5mg just as a test (it’s not an official dose) and had the same problem, so I stuck with 1mg. I had also experienced vomiting like you described. Some doses are just too high for us, I guess.
Yes, I get sudden nausea and either suddenly have to vomit or almost vomit. Also, have heartburn and constipation, which I have never dealt with. I am on the 1mg dosage, but I was having the same thing on 0.5. I actually feel better on the higher dosage except for those three things. I have learned that I can only eat tiny bland meals, and also my doc prescribed Zofran for mild nausea but it stopped that feeling of sudden nausea. Unfortunately, mine doesn’t go away after a few days. I get nauseated all week with every injection. I am so very glad that it has improved my sugar levels. I’ve lost 25 lbs and am willing to adjust to it. It has really helped me eat better, eat less, and drink more water. It’s such a trade-off.
I have vomited suddenly on 2 occasions, once on same day as 0.5 injection and once 2 days later. Started Ozempic 15 weeks ago, taking metformin 1000 twice a day. Nausea finally starting to settle to mild indigestion symptoms. Sugars are great these days, A1c low 6’s. Only remaining issue is severe constipation. A big plus is 7kg weight loss
