I wish to take a sleep aid supplement, Valerian Root, to help with my insomnia problems. I take simvistatin and have been told that taking this drug in conjunction with valerian root is not advisable. Is this true? Is it safe to mix the two? Thanks for your help.

I recently had some insomnia, A delicious lettuce, salad cream sandwich for supper. Try it... worked for me.
Hello starksmen,
Valerian is broken down by certain liver enzymes so it can interact with other drugs that are also broken down by the same enzymes.
The drugs include Statins, Antihistames, and some Antifungal drugs. You should consult with you doctor before mixing the two.

The interaction checker is saying there is no interaction between them, but talk to your pharmacist before you take them.
