I didn't taper from the 5mg to 2.5mg. I've been on 2.5mg for 28 days. I'm having intrusive and suicidal thoughts. Thanks for any response!
Can I reinstate 5mg of olanzapine if I've been taking lower dose of 2.5mg?

Hi, I know someone who was on the same situation. Did you reinstate? Perhaps we can talk to learn more of your situation?
Hello.
You say that you did this on your own, without supervision from a health care guidance, I assume. That's a problem with most any prescribed medicine. I'd get advice immediately from a registered pharmacist's (because they are much easier to reach on a weekend) or call your doctor ASAP. Other than that I don't know or haven t investigated this medicine , myself.
With that being said, generally you should follow to the tee directions on the label.
Best regards

Hello. Like I stated, I don't have first-hand knowledge about this medicine. But in general to take taper you should taper slowly not fast but slowly the benzodiazepine it should be very slow I don't know what class of drug this is but in general slowly a slow taper. I'm sure somebody else will answer this for you if not I'll look it up.. best regards
Hi Kevin,
Your advice is correct.
Olanzapine belongs to the drug class of 2nd generation atypical antipsychotics.
And yes, it must be discontinued gradually under medical supervision.
Sorry, Olanzapine, brand name Zyprexa is used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and insomnia.
