Ive been on Lexapro 10mgs for about 10 weeks. I am sick of feeling 'out of it' and the weight gain has been depressing. So, Im completely done with this drug and will not take it any longer! Im hoping to power through these withdrawals. I am on day 4 and just today am I feeling them a bit. My head is killing me - the same way it did when I first started. SO my question is... will my withdrawal symptoms be similar to the side effects I experienced when starting Lex? And since I only took the drug for 10 weeks - will this make them less severe? Thanks!

You do know that some of us are going to tell you you should not stop any med alone, without dr order or help, don't you? You can't just stop Lexapro like that.
Unfortunately. You may be Kais mama, but you arent mine. I am hoping to receive an actual answer. Thanks for your time.
and when you end up in the er, a nurse, such as myself, will tell you the same thing
I have an issue getting off lexapro too. But theres a bigger issue: I'm newly pregnant. I'm on multiple medications, some including Novaine, depacote, respiradole (or something like that), trazedone, yazmine (my birth control that failed to work), and a few others for depression, insomnia, psychosis, and anxiety that I may have failed to name. I also take extremely high doses of these. I have had no choice but to get off of all of my medicine cold turkey (without my doctors knowledge of me being pregnant or getting off of the pills) excluding the sleeping pills. I fear that if I stay on these pills, it'll kill my baby, or cause birth defects. Any tips? I really need help with this one. Thanks.
You need to see an obstetrician and tell him what you were on and why, and he can tell you if there are safe alternatives and what to do.
Funny Kaismama i took lexapro for three months and stoped cold turkey nothing happened i know everyone isnt me but you cant just asume that if you stop this medicine that your going to be in the ER. Not to smart of a nurse if i may say so
You may not say that. What if I told you it won't do anything to you and end up in te er after a seizure? Me being a nurse could get me sued for not warning you.
"Kaismablah" I think they were looking for general consensus.
It seems like you're trying to pick a fight just because they're asking a question about Lexapro. I'm sure The individual who asked isn't stupid, many people ask and if they wanted to nurse they would go to their doctor.
hey, probably way too late, just wanted to thank a medical professional for giving a legitimate answer based on actual experience in the field. your time was not wasted, thank you.
Yeah, cause being a condescending know-it-all is going to help someone in dire straits. You give the nursing profession a bad name, shame on you.
