I have been on weekly doses of 1g methylprednisolone that are gradually being reduced. I have an autoimmune disease that's in remission and now the cellcept is to keep the disease at bay. I have started on 500mg cellcept twice a day, and I now have insomnia, apparently from the cellcept. I can 't get any sleep without Meds, and i'm supposed to double the cellcept dosage in a week. Have never had insomnia before. Has anyone else had insomnia from cellcept? Does it get better over time? Also, I feel quite weak and wonder if this will eventually go away? Thanks.
I was just put on cellcept last week. Does the insomnia get better?

I go through several different aids to sleep, some days I get more sleep than others. I've tried Xanax, Melatonin, Benadryl, tylenol 3, Norco, muscle relaxers and Vitamin B12 seems to help calm me down. I alternate so I can stay on low doses, usually taking half a pill. I noticed the Xanax works best if I wake up during the night and Melatonin helps me get better rest when I do sleep. Be careful with prescription drugs, if I over do it or take them too late, I'm a super tired zombie for the morning.
The fatigue and weakness have improved with diet, elimination sugar and red meat as much as possible and drinking green smoothies with fruit and flax seeds.
Cellcept has helped me control my lupus so good luck.
Hello. I was on cellcept for six months. It did not make me sleepless. The steroid, prednisone, at higher doses did. Once I was off the cellcept I was able to see it had been the prednisone.
Here is the important part, cellcept helps your body as a steroid reducing medication. Steroids are very tough on the body so doctors try all kinds of drugs. Methyltrexate is often tried first. These support medications reduces the immune system response and is essential for healing.
I suggest you have a good talk with your rheumatologist. If you are not seeing such a specialist do so immediately. They are experts in autoimmune diseases. You don't mention your disease. We have various support groups for disease, if you wish to sign up. Anything more to add, we will support you. Karen
Hello riggy, I personally do not take cellcept so cannot give you a direct answer about the insomnia you are having. It is listed as a less serious side effect of taking this med. I would venture to say the steroid is what is causing your sleep problems altho'. I persoanlly have had to take it many times, & it does tend to keep me awake at night. Just a guess on my part as I am not a doctor. I am giving you the link to cellcept as I feel everyone should know all they can about the meds they put in their bodies. I would most definately give your doctor a call before the increase is due. Best of luck to you...
