Hi, 1427!
Depending on the response to the medication... and every person responds differently... Prozac can cause sleepiness/drowsiness in about 15% of users but it can also cause insomnia in about 35% of users.
It can be taken day or night with or without food but in your case (are you taking mirtazapine for sleep?) you might want to try taking it in the morning first. Side effects generally resolve within just days to a week or two so if it does make you a little drowsy during the day it shouldn't last too long.
You also might want to ask your health care professional for professional advice since she/he knows your medical history.
Best regards and good luck to you.
hi, many thanks for your reply.
i take mirtazapine for depression and to aid sleep. i was taking mirtazapine 30mg at night but found it was not helping me enough and caused excessive drowsiness in the day and found it hard to concentrate and remember things, also the lower dose of mirtazapine 15mg seemed to help a little better for sleep than the higher dose. my sleep has always been bad. my gp added the fluoxetine 20mg to help with depression and maybe help hot flushes. i have gradually been reducing my amitriptyline for trapped nerve pain because gp is looking for another drug that may be more effective for me, it was also giving me irregular heartbeat. once again, thanks for your reply and hope you are keeping well xx
