I have been on the same dosage for over 5 years now and it only lasts for half the time it used to. So I suffer just waiting to take my next dose and spend a lot of time in bed. I take 10 mgs 6 times a day every 4 hours but my pain returns in half that time. I end up having to take tylenol ,gabapentin and muscle relaxers a couple times a day just to cope. I sometimes think just stopping them because I have ran out before self medicating and the withdraws are pure hell. and the withdraws are pure hell. Any suggestions?
Has any one had the problem of oxycodone stop working as well as it used to?

Well it sounds like a easy fix those 10 oxycodones IR ARE NOT THAT GOOD IT LAST ME ABOUT 5 HRS MAX. SO YOU NEED A BUMP TO 15 MGX6 PER DAY OR EVEN 5 . BEING IN CHRONIC PAIN IS A HELL OF A BURDEN. BUT FOR US THAT DO WE NEED TO FIGHT IT WITH EVERYTHING WE CAN DO. GOD BLESS JOHN
You may be habituated to it. Needing increases in dosage is a sign of this but they are hard to come by because of the opioid crisis in most countries.

It's called tolerance. Oxycodone is a physically addictive drug. Try to skip your next several doses. As you start to feel the pangs of withdrawal (increased pain, jittery, and cold or flu like symptoms), take one dose. The one dose of oxycodone will mitigate your withdrawal symptoms and likely leave you with a comfortable feeling. Best of luck to you.
Hello, Yes Oxycodone does stop working. Let your Dr know what's going on and they are able to change your medicine to a different one. Are you with a pain management Dr?
Kind regards.

Yes I am seeing a pain management Dr. I have taken a few different ones and ended up back on the same one a couple times because of them either messing with my head or not working any better. I really need my oxycodone increased but don't think that is going to happen. I'm sooo tired of the pain.
Come right and ask your pain management Dr if he can increase it. Right now it's hard for a Dr to do this with medication, because the DEA and insurance company's are involved.
Right now? it's hard for the Pain management Dr or PCP? And why is this?
