I was prescribed prednisone tabs to be taken 6x3 and 4x3 and 2x3 and 1x3 days or a total of 39 tablets. However there were 50 tablets prescribed. The pharmacy confirmed the total prescribed and the directions. Why are there 11 extra pills?

Answers
Hi! A couple things may have occurred.
1.) The prescriber miscalculated how many you'd need, or
2.) The prescriber gave you a few extras in case you drop/lose a few. They can be quite tiny.
If the difference in the price you pay isn't drastic, be glad you have a few extra rather than be shorted. They may come in handy.
I'm on 2 x 5mg a day and I can't quit suddenly, so from my perspective, I'd be glad to have a few spares. Be well.
