Hello sandylampe, That’s a good question. Your doctor should have explained that to you. My experience with prednisone is that you take the entire dose for that day all at one time. So if your prednisone is 20 mg tabs and your doctor wants you to take 3 of them, he wants you consuming 60 mg at a time, then reducing it to 40 mg. Etc. If you are unsure, it would be best to ask the pharmacist or call your doctor. Best to take that medicine in the morning and with food. My doctor also wanted me to take an antacid like Prilosec ahead of time to protect the stomach until I got down to 10 mg. Good luck.
