I have strep throat and the doctor gave me amoxicillin and prednisone. Is it OK to take the prednisone? Will it help me get better faster?
Is prednisone good to help with strep throat, along with amoxicillin?

I don't know if my answer will be helpful but I currently use 50mg Prednisone for Lupus and I recently had sinus and had to use amoxicillin for 7days alongside my daily prednisone and I felt better. Your doctor knows best and you wouldn't know if you don't try the medication. Sending positive thoughts your way.
Do not take these medications together space them apart they will make you very angry your bp will rise while taking anY antibiotic with prednisolone personally I would get oregarno capsules they work much better with steroids work better than amoxicillin google it and find out for your self dont take my word for it amoxicillin versus oregarno capsules
All the best space them remember steroids should always be take all together in a morning and reduced when you are coming off them bot bang and stop. All the best I've been on them 31 years.
Hi Thomas
If your doctor diagnosed you with strep throat the Amoxicillin will definitely help the infection in your throat.
Prednisone by mouth usually takes a minimum of 4 to 6 days before you notice less inflammation/pain relief.
However, if your doctor prescribed the Amoxicillin & Prednisone together for your strep throat then it's best to follow your doctor's directions.
In addition, If your strep throat is causing you pain I recommend you take an OTC pain medication such as Advil or Tylenol. Both of these medications will alleviate pain and inflammation in your throat.
Finally, another way to alleviate throat pain is to take cough drops.
