I got my thumb cought in a door as it was closing. This happened 4 monthes ago. The blackend nail finally fell off and a new nail has started to grow in but still has a long way to go, leaving an exposed bare nail bed. Would like to keep it germ-free and thought of using Polysporin covered with a band-aid. Is Polysporin ok to use in this area?
Is it OK to use Polysporin where it comes in contact with a finger nail?

I would say unless you have an infection you don't need the polysporin. The skin isn't open so its ok, just sensitive. I had one pulled off and I kept a band aid over it to protect it, but other wise I didn't do anything to it and it did fine.
