Look at the prescription label, somewhere on the label it should say "date filled": ie 1/20/2010 just underneath where it says date filled it says "Discard after": ie 1/20/2011. According to this labling the shelf life is a year. Make sure to ask your doctor or pharmasist to confirm the labeling and other questions regarding effectiveness with giving them the presciption number and when it was filled. Always verify shelf life and effectiveness with a doctor or pharmasist, as I am not niether one of them. If in doubt always ask a doctor or pharmasist. I hope this helped.
Tylenol #3's are good for 2-3 years. If they haven't changed color and they don't smell, then they're ok to take.
