I would like semaglutide for weight loss. I live in the Uk and Wegovy isn’t available atm. Ozempic only goes up to 1mg and Wegovy goes up to 2.4mg. Is it better to wait for Wegovy as if I’m titrated up to 1 mg Ozempic and then need a higher dose I might not be able to get it?
Should I use Ozmepic now or wait till I can get Wegovy in the summer?

I’m not in the UK, so I don’t know how it all works there as far as authorizations, but if it were me and your doc agrees, I would start with with what you can get now since this stuff is in high demand. I started the Wegovy on the first “baby” dosage and am already losing weight after just 2 shots even though they say most people don’t start losing weight until they ramp up to high dosages. It’s a huge motivator to see even a little progress when we start this kind of a journey, so if you respond to the Ozempic that would be a win. If the Ozempic doesn’t end up being enough for you I’m sure your doc can eventually switch you over to the Wegovy. If you are sensitive to meds starting with the lower dosage Ozempic would also be a benefit. I’ve also heard the Ozempic has a better injector.
