i keep my patch on my upper arm, on the front. the sides lifting up are completely normal, and after a year of using it i’ve still never been pregnant. i’ve noticed that no matter what i’m doing, when i’m in any sort of water it lifts off very easily so i’m not sure why they say it’s completely safe to wear in water ://
My trick for making anything with adhesive stay put is to wash the area with good old fashioned Dawn first. Hands too. Rubbing alcohol can also be used, either alone or following the Dawn. Remember that oil is public enemy #1 to adhesives. More accurately, any fatty substance will break down adhesives. That includes fatty alcohols like cetyl & stearyl alcohols. Check your body wash, shampoo, and conditioner for any of these moisturizing ingredients that may be lingering on your skin. (Conversely, oil works great to remove any remaining adhesive left by your patch.)
I had the same problem with the patch. I ended up taping the sides so the shower didn't cause the sides to come up. My doctor told me that as long as the patch was still on, I was still getting my birth control. I only ended up using the patch for a little while because it not being firmly in place freaked me out.
I had majors issues with the pill. Was on it for 10 years and started to develop issues not too long ago So I switched to the patch, seems to have cleared up my issues so I kinda have to stick to it. But I'm nervous im not getting all the hormones with the sides coming up and the small bubbles from the water in the shower I've used it for 2 weeks so far. On my lower stomach and my bum, and neither spot managed to stick completely for the entire week. Any other good places in your body?
Everywhere I put the patch, it didn't stick well. I did arm, butt, hip, leg, and lower back. My patch only stayed on partially even covered in tape. I also had problems with the pill and that is why I switched to the patch. Then I tried the ring. Now I'm on an IUD. I've never tried the Depo shot but I've heard good things about it. I hope you find a good place to stick your patch, I know what a pain in the butt it is! I wouldn't worry so much about the bubbles, the patch will get like that after some of the medication has entered your body.
Thank you for your help I might end up just doing an iud! The patch is such a hassle. But that hassle outweighs my issues I had when I was on the pill.
You're welcome. I've been pretty happy with my IUD. I got a Paraguard (non hormonal) and haven't had any problems. I wish you the best!!
