A couple of my co-workers used to take Omeprazole and stopped because they were told it leads to issues with there bones/arthritis.

Yes, long term use of proton pump inhibitors (e.g. omeprazole) can cause problems with bones... the link below has more information about problems omeprazole can cause for bones... please read under Musculoskeletal.
