I started on 75mg for 2 weeks and felt slightly better at times but not all the time, then was upped to 150mg but went back to 75mg after a week as I felt more anxious/ low, but this didn’t help me as my anxiety was still bad on and off, I’m now back on 150mg after 4 weeks, my anxiety/ mood varies from day to day, I have a good day and think I’m finally getting better, then the next day may be anxious and low again, it’s very intermittent at the moment, is this normal ?
Currently on day 29 of treatment. I have tried every SSRI for last 23 years with varied/ limited success, hence I have been put on this SNRI

Hi, Andy!
What medication are you taking? Effexor (venlafaxine)?
With most you need to stabilize on one dose and that usually takes 4-8 weeks. Changing dosages just confuses your metabolism as it tries to adjust to the drug but it's a matter of trial and error to find the dose that's most effective for you.
What you're experiencing now is probably what we call the "roller coaster effect"... good for awhile then not so good for awhile. It's very common until you stabilize but the fact that you're improving means that the medication is beginning to work.
Be patient and try to stay positive. You'll get through this initial period quickly now.
Hi Wildcat it’s venlafaxine modified release
Thanks for the advice!
