I'm on my ring free week, but my period isn't due for another 3 days. When my boyfriend and I have sex he usually comes inside me. Is it still okay for him to do this if I'm on my ring free week? Is there a chance I could get pregnant if he does?
NuvaRing - I'm on my ring free week, should my boyfriend not ejaculate inside me?

Just to clarify in case you ever do need back up protection, pulling out doesnt protect you from pregnancy at all. This is a wives tale/myth kind of thing. Men secrete small amounts of sperm all through sex, not just when they ejaculate or "come" and they cant feel this or control it but it can get you pregnant. Granted, the majority are released during ejaculation but since it only takes one, pulling out offers no "extra" or back up protection. Since this is just your ring free week, you are protected but if it ever comes a time, say, the ring falls out for longer than 3 hours and you need back up protection, just pulling out before ejaculation can get you pregnant. You MUST use a barrier from of protection, like a condom, otherwise it is a wasted gesture.
Before I was on nuvaring we used the pull out method, only because condoms were very uncomfortable for me and gave me some irritation down there. I guess we were just lucky as we used this method for a little over 2 months. But thank you very much for the information. I knew that method wasn't the smartest idea.
Sorry, but you're wrong about the withdrawal method. It certainly isn't anywhere near as effective as condoms or hormonal birth control, it is still about 80% effective (compared to the pill's 98%). I think the "withdrawal is a myth" was actually a myth started to stop people from relying on withdrawal. Also, research is still inconclusive about sperm in pre-ejaculate, but it seems as if there is none (men can have semen in pre-ejaculate if they don't urinate between sex acts). So, you are right in advising that if someone doesn't want to get pregnant they absolutely should not rely on withdrawal as a primary form of BC, but it actually does offer some protection.
I used the pullout method for 4 years and never got pregnant but I switched to the Nuva ring about a month ago. I'm just not understanding how you're not protected if it falls out for 3 hours but you are protected for the whole week that you're free
You are protected even the week you have it out.
