My 15 year old daughter was placed on Prozac 20mg in mid January for anxiety problems and has, within the past couple of weeks, started experiencing a numb/tingling feeling in her hands and arms and some cramping of the hands. Is this normal?
Is numbness or tingling feeling in hands/arms and cramping of the hands a side effect of Prozac?

When I was a teen I had very bad anxiety where it made me hyperventalate and that made my hands numb for sure!
Hope you have news from the doc soon! Waiting for answers will cause her more anxiety!

Her Dr called back and after some discussion we have both decided it is an 'emotional' reaction rather than anything related to the medication.
Since her anxiety attacks were medically diagnosed in January, it seems like she has started to develop all sorts of 'illnesses' and problems.
I try to be as supportive as I can without paying too much concern to these problems. I worry if I give them too much attention it will make things worse. But at the same time, I don't want to ignore a serious problem.

Yes, I understand. Being a mom worries us and we want to do the right thing. Anxiety can cause alot of other symtoms. Just go with you gut feeling and I'm sure you won't miss anything that needs attention!

Hi I haven't had this side effect. I would check with ur doc. It might not be agreeing with her

Someone had posted on here from Dec and her husband had the tingling and numbness there is another site called no more panic. The people on there are really supportive and give great advice just like this site.
