Hi, Michyh!
I took buspirone with escitalopram for many years and now take it with another antidepressant and have never had any problem with it.
That being said, there is a risk of a very rare condition called serotonin syndrome and you should be aware of any potential symptoms... Tyrese has given you the link above.
It's a risk ~vs~ benefit situation and your doctor has determined that the benefits for you outweigh the risk. If you have questions or concerns you should talk with your doctor and ask for her professional advice.
Thank u so much, I was very worried when I read that one could get that syndrome, but u have put my mind at rest.
Also did u have to take them every day or only when needed, ( buspirone) as the escitalopram I take every day.
Gosh bless u.
The answer to that is up for grabs... some doctors apparently prescribe buspirone "as needed" but all the literature on the drug says it must be taken daily to be effective (in divided doses). It usually takes about 4-6 weeks to become fully effective.
I'm highly resistant to medications and have to take high doses... currently taking 30mg twice daily.
If your doctor prescribe this medication, you should contact his/her office and let him/her tell you what to do.

Stay safe,
So is it not safe? Or should I trust her as she is the one that’s given me the 2 meds to take
Taking both medication you will experience side effects for couple of weeks until your body gets adjusted. I can’t prove to you whether or not it’s not safe, because I didn’t prescribe the medication for you. Your doctor prescribe it for a reason. If you’re still concern talk to her and let her explain to you how to take both medication.
Stay safe,
