To start I must say that doctors have checked me from "entrance to exit" and don't find anything they feel would cause this. Many mornings when I wake up and start moving around, starting my day, I get this feeling of having to vomit. I sometimes spend several hours dry heaving for about 15 minutes then resting for about 15 to 30 minutes. The entire time I have severe nausea. Phenergrin helps sometimes. Motion sickness pills help sometimes. Twice I've been hospitalized. I have minor ulcers. None bleed and none bad enough to cause this. So far it's been about 4 years of this. I know there's not enough details here. You need to know my lifestyle and my daily routine. What I intake into my body and how my output is. All of this has been gone over with doctors and my family. I have nowhere to turn except more pills fighting symptoms from no apparent source. Tell me what you think. PLEASE!
Nausea and uncontrollable dry heaving?

Hi K,
I am so sorry you have to go through all.of what you so accurately described.
You may want to go to an Environmental Physician. Have your drinking water checked for any heavy metals or contamination especially if you have a well. Do you have mold in your home? Mold doesn't have to be seen to be present. It can be more dangerous if it's airborne.
Do you garden? Use heavy gloves?
Are you in a chemical plant area? I read a large well known Super Store had their fertilizer bags right by the local town stream and they leaked right into the drinking reservoir.
I'm thinking outside of the box because you obviously have pursued the routine specialists.you
Could you have parasites? Many are microscopic. Traveled before initial symptoms? Infectious Disease Physician.
Any other way poisons could be introduced into your system?
I'm sorry but this will be lengthy but I hear so much distress in your voice, I need to give it my all.
First off, YOU are the only one who knows your body. Please don’t allow anyone to “brush” you off because they don’t have the investigative curiosity to perhaps, learn something new. Worse yet, imply that the symptoms are unrelated so most likely are psychological, and refer you to a counselor! Look at it from their point of view. This situation causes extreme stress to the body. You have been losing faith in your ability to make them understand so your hands may be shaky. You understand that waiting another 3 months until the next appointment is unimaginable so your affect appears depressed and tearful. Quivering voice... or responding to questions at a slower pace because you are in pain and it takes extra time to process that so-important response. Your self-confidence is waning by the minute and you know it but can’t stop it. By the end of the visit, you now have become a victim and you look pleadingly to the all-knowing figure but all you see is the back of his lab coat as he leaves the exam room.
Don’t forget that times have changed. The records are not entirely confidential! You may have unknowingly granted permission on your first visit while signing 10 other forms. Perhaps you shared it through the health apps. Electronic charting is a whole different ballgame and the differential diagnosis is probably the most subjective part of the entire record. Allow me to explain. You present with a group of symptoms. The Differential Diagnosis is usually the most frequently read section when being referred to another physician when he/she needs assistance from a specialist. After the doc examines you and listens to the problems, a picture forms in their well-educated brain as to what the diagnosis may be. I'm not criticizing because it DOES work in most cases. Let’s call it an educated guess. They will usually narrow the most likely causes down to 3-4 diagnoses. It’s necessary to gather the data to justify the tests or specialists so an auditor will follow their thinking.***Unfortunately, I included, have a chronic disease with multiple unrelated symptoms. Suppose the doc didn’t have the time to factor in a “complex” patient that day. Suppose he had an overbearing day and needs a 5 min mental rest before seeing you but didn’t take it. We are all human and s..t happens. They have no idea the stress to the body and the psychological damage in that 20 min! By know, you are ready to accept the worst possibility. Knowledge is power. People have information overload researching and being sick which intensifies the symptoms. It's human nature to overcome the condition through learning what diet is best. Exercise or rest? What will be the outcome and how much longer can a body exist in this condition.
The real slap in the face is when you feel discounted as a human being just to be told you need a counselor! Going back to the DD, this electronic charting may be seen by the specialist who may be influenced and biased. Can’t you see how it can take an average of 7 years sometimes to find out what you already knew? Something is wrong with your body. Some patients have developed PTSD after going through this scenario. I’m not anti-doctors just those that lost their passion, or over-confident but cannot admit they were wrong and just apologize, or over-book and maybe should have retired a year ago. This is just a small minority but chronic illness providers may not want these patients because it can be heartbreaking with no satisfaction of helping people. It’s becoming more of a problem with these chronic conditions because we are living longer and have access to do our own investigating on the internet. My feelings are that it’s time to have a new specialty for chronic undiagnosed problems that will not only save a fortune in health care dollars but also be fairer to doctors trying their best by having more time for a visit and to just plain talk! I was once told “2 complaints per visit”! I had the same 2 excruciating symptoms 2 months later but now had another 3 symptoms!
You sound like a very intelligent person and you are doing the right things. I think I can help a bit in making the visits more productive and less stressful.
1) Go to your first visit prepared. Don't stress out because you feel unprepared because it will backfire.
2) This will sound totally insulting and I'm sorry for it. Take time with your appearance. It demonstrates you care about yourself and are grateful for the help you are about to receive (hopefully).
3) Take someone with you to witness what is being said, getting correct discharge instructions, be available to ask some well thought out questions. Try to stay upbeat and actively listen so you don't get sent down the depression path. It demonstrates you have someone who cares enough about you to accompany you. Doctors seem to appreciate it. Another positive is that he has someone who can explain the changes since the last visit. Eating better? More active? Following his recommendations, etc.
4) it sounds like you are already doing this but for others out there...
Find a Health Daily Diary App and religiously provide details. The apps help guide you and many are free.
You want to do it several times a day rather than at night when you may have forgotten details that “crack the case”.
Sleeping - not only how many hours but how restful was it? Did you get up and had trouble going back to sleep. What wile you up? Bathroom break or pain? Did you wake up feeling positive or we're you symptomatic prior to opening your eyes?
Energy levels... Give a % of how it compared when you felt healthy. Change in activity? Can you exercise 5 min compared to 30? Can you take care of yourself in doing routine activities of daily living?
Medication times... It's the best way to find out if it's effective or perhaps it's the culprit.
Food Intake... Time of meal, % eaten and if decreased then why? Nausea, no appetite, you feel worse after you eat? Weigh yourself at least 3 times/week.
Write everything that you are or drank that day. Don't forget to add any supplements you take.
Bowel movements and describe.
Nausea and vomiting...
What brought it on? Empty stomach or had food 20 min before. High fat content?
Pain Levels...
Very important to record! 0= no pain and 10= the worst imaginable. To make it easier for myself I divided it up. 1-2 I was aware but could do my daily routine. 3-4 Found myself starting to pace and not be able to concentrate as usual.5-6 no appetite. Fear taking over. Sitting and to king. 7-8 gentle moaning starts and becomes constant. Grimacing and not talking. Stress because when it gets to this point I don't know how many days it will be out of control plus I know I can't sleep this night. 9-10 out of control. Can't moan or rock anymore because it worsens. Shallow short breaths due to lung muscle pain. Not eating and small sips of water. I compare it to natural childbirth but worse because nothing good comes from the suffering and there is no end in sight. Week? I get really scared and I know I can't be alone. I don't want to commit suicide but my body is trying to kill itself so I call for help after first thought. Total insomnia is a form used in torture. Pain usually increases at night. You lose control over simple things so do not take a chance.
As it became more in control I was able to elaborate more on how I handled myself which may slightly help for every stage.
Do NOT waste time in staying with the same doctor. If you don't get a feel of empathy, nothing is be g done except observation or you just don't like him the go elsewhere!
Research your area, talk with friends and look up comments made in the different websites.

Don't request pain meds or you may get labeled! Let him see the pain in your eyes, the grimacing (scrunching of are between eyes), protecting painful area by holding it still. Whatever the symptoms, it's better to have the doctor observe your discomfort, read your diary and he makes med decisions.
You need to be your own advocate or you will fall into victimhood.
PS... Before falling asleep, find at least one event that you are grateful for during tbs day. Go to sleep thinking about it rather than the bad stuff.
I hope this helped. Please let us know how you are doing.
We will be praying for you!
:-)
Thank you so much for that. I'm still searching. You gave me some great ideas. I'll write more later. A bit sick atm.
You are welcome.
I'm here for you!
:-)
