I’m currently taking buprenorphine/naloxone 8mg/2mg for chronic back pain prescribed by my pain management doctor. I am also taking Zoloft 50mg for anxiety and clonazepam for panic attacks also prescribed by pain management doctor. My new doctor told me that the naloxone will block any benefits of the benzodiazepines when I need it. Has anyone else encountered this?
Does naloxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) block the effects of benzodiazepines?

I would ask the pharmacist where you get your prescriptions filled. I have found they usually have the best and most knowledgeable answers when it comes to questions like that. Pharmacists must keep up on all the drugs they dispense, whereas doctors rely on the pharmacist for much of this information.
I ask my pharmacist questions all the time and he is extremely helpful and knows so much more than any of my doctors when it comes to medications.
Hi, bulldog!
As far as I know it only affects opioid drugs like hydrocodone, morphine, and fentanyl.
Both Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) and the benzodiazepines are central nervous system depressants and the combination is not generally recommended. Your doctor should be aware of this and may have determined the benefit outweighs the risk.
