I missed my thyroid pill today can I take 2 tomorrow?

What happens if I miss a dose?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

Never double the dose for the next day. The effect is very different than what you would expect. This isn't like other medications, it is a hormone. On occasion we can all forget. If you are too late in the day to take it, just do your regular dose the next day. It is a very long acting hormone replacement and you will not cause any problems to yourself. I suggest setting a clock to take it regularly or use a pill box with the week spread out so you know you took it. Forgetting happens when we use a bottle to take meds from it.

I take synthroid because I had my thyroid removed and as far as I know it should better be taken the same time but it is o.k. if it is taken later in the day.

If you realize you miss it today you should take it right away, don't wait until the next day. Just wait until about an hour after you ate.
