I went to that doc Nov 12 (this past Monday) because my vagina was really itchy. The Doctor said I have bacteria (not an std) they checked my pee & everything. It was prescribed 1 full tube every night for 5 days & to apply on vulva twice a day.Today will be the 5th night. But Ive noticed that I have this cottage cheese looking discharge.Is That normal? is the gel getting rid of the beacteria?

I used the five-day cream with the single application each day. My last dose was three nights ago and this is the first day I'm not getting the discharge. I hope this helps!

I have been using Nidagel for 10 days for BV and the twice a week.for 5 months but after the 10 day and just starting the first treatment to start the 5 months... Im now experincing more burning and dryness in the vagina... Im now trying to figure out what Im experiencing... has anyone gone thru this

I am using the gel also for 10 and 5 month twice a week, thought I was the only one with the recurring treatment but Im glad that someone else is doing it also. I too have been experiencing the cottage cheese discharge and burning so I told my doctor that I would keep watching to see if the same pattern of the cottage cheese continues. I notice that after my second dose for the week I see the discharge and the burning is intense but I read that discharge and burning are side effects of the gel. I think we should just all watch it and see what happens as all our bodies may react differently.

This is an older question, But I ALWAYS ask my Doctor for Fluconazole when he prescribes me antibiotics, Just in case. What you had was a Yeast infection.

I'm too glad I saw this, thank you so much because I was wondering the same thing. I am on day 3 and I'm seeing the cottage cheese now. I have noticed it before but never questioned it due to believing the metro was working. I will say though, your not supposed to have sex while your on it. Trust me I know, not something you want to do.

Hi, Yes. I've been trying to google if my infection (thrush) is clearing up, as im on day 3 of 5 of using the Zidoval or Zinoval vaginal gel, as ive been getting the white cottage cheese symptoms,which ive never experienced before *( which i kinda freaked out about) and wondered if the cream was working? ive had this infection for about 2 months now and nothing seems to be working, zidoval might be the go as ive seen 2 doctors wanting more help. thanks!

If you have sex on this medicine your vagina will get very irritated, it may be very dry, itch, burn and swell in my experience. It will be extremely uncomfortable but also noticeably tight to yourself (painful) and your partner. The more rounds you go, the more painfully uncomfortable it will get. I didn't see discharge from it on my partner but the following day was hell on my body and still was a thick white egg white consistency. When you all say cottage cheese do you mean lumpy too? I haven't had that but it was more like creamy white elastic sticky mess. Yuck.

My doctor told me to have sex with it in or rub some on the tip of his penis. However it’s more fun the other way. Though it’s not known to be passed back and forth there is still controversy over it. So my doctor treats both

This is very normal, it happens every time I've used metrogel. The medicine is strong but its not due to a yeast infection, its just the med working. Also someone mentioned that it's from having sex?? No! It's not..everyone on here is experiencing the same symptoms.. Im not active, so its not that.

I'm having the same experience. It's like when I go to the bathroom and wipe myself a bunch of white stuff look like cottage cheese. I stuck a finger inside and nothing but pearl like color discharge came out, with no smell. They have me on the gel for 4 weeks. I have to do it once a week.

I’ve been using this for years I have recurring BV when I’m on the antibiotic (vaginal gel) I don’t have sex because why should you and it just pushes the bacteria back into your vagina?? That’s not logical AT ALL. Cottage cheese looking discharge is normal it’s the medicine pulling out the bad bacteria. Stick to that

This might be old but I just want to add... Sex isn’t the cause but in my experience it’s not HELPFUL EITHER. To have vaginal intercourse when you’re experiencing terrible vaginitis—it makes no sense. I had to learn this hard way. If you’re having ANY TYPE OF VAGINAL PROBLEMS I URGE YOU TO STOP HAVING SEX UNTIL YOU GET THEM COMPLETELY RESOLVED. I know it may seem hard but I’m TELLING YOU. Take care of yourself and get better. The sex isn’t going to be good anyway. I’m currently going through hell with BV and I’ve had plenty of yeast infections as well.

The reason why you guys are getting the weird cottage cheese discharge without symptoms after taking Metronazidole could be from having sex. This does something. It's like getting stimulated interacts with the medicine still in your body and forms this. That has been my experience. Also do any of you notice these symptoms recurring or happening right before your period? That's what happens to me either yeast or bv ... drinking lots of water and not wearing underwear to bed helps and so does femdophilus the pill. I have been going through this for years. It's a nightmare.

Omg it’s sucks that it is so common but I’m glad I’m not the only person with this nightmare. Ever since I turned 21 I’ve had the BV and yeast issue and I’m at the doctors like every few weeks. They are giving me a look because I’m so young and they assume I’m sleeping around. I’ve been with one guy for 2 years. I just hate having to go back and start all over again :(

Same parnter and u keep gettin bv its bcuz hes cheatin ive experinced it b4 wit my childs father wondering y it keeps happening then i found out he was cheating the same wit another guy i found out about and i actually spoke to the other female and she asked me was i gttn bv i told her yes and she was as well its bcuz our body fluids are not mixing.im not sayin ur guy is cheating but i have been 100 percent accurate everytime stay safe queen.

Im currently using this gel to treat BV. Also currently experiencing thick white cottage cheese like discharge w/ no smell. It was scaring me because I also have experienced yeast and completely hate it, but the fact that it's only discharge and no discomfort I'm hoping its just the gel doing work. Wishing I would've asked my doctor what type or of discharge or texture to expect.

Yes... me too. I was prescription ed Diflucan and the gel. I'm on my third day. No other side effects though... just the white cottage cheese build up from the gel.

I had the same thing happen. It looks like white odorless cottage cheese or plastic balls. I was concerned because cream is clear. Glad to know it's just the medicine. I've got 2 more days.

The same thing has happen to me but now I'm getting a light brownish discharge and it irritates my vigina from the inside of the lips. What's wrong with me? And I'm 4/5 weeks pregnant.

I had went to seen the doctor on yesterday cause I was haven burning itching and dryness i were going to the bathroom a lot. So thy check my pee. He gave me metronidazole gel night once a day.n am talking ciprofloxacn its a antibiotics pill.I hate have bacteria infection...

I just read your question I was terrified too. Because I had the exact same experience, but I called my obgyn and the cottege cheese stuff is just the medicine. It means its working, this is my fith day and and been trying to get that stuff out of my vagina, but the doc said dont because it wont work. I thought I was the only one that went threw this.

Oh my god, glad I am not the only experiencing this. I am like afraid to have sex because it is so embarrassing. does anyone know how many days until all the white stuff makes it way out? I have been done using the gel for about 3-4 days and its still coming out!

I am on day 4 of this medicine and I went to flush the toilet and seen white cottage cheese... I've never seen it before. I didn't even know I had an infection until my ob did the strep b test. Do you know how hard it is to put a tube up your hoohaa with a basketball belly in the way? Lol. Glad this is normal.

Metro is such a powerful antibiotic/anti protozoan med, it also wipes out all the good bacteria that keep yeast in check. Call your dr to ask if they will give you a few diflucan tablets, it's an oral pill for yeast, take one as soon as yu get them filled and one the last day of treatment or the day after that. Metrogel clears up BV, but then a yeast infection almost always occurs next, that's what it sounds like you had happen. Apply some over the counter Monistat to the outside skin to soothe it and kill the yeast draining out with the gel. Trust me on this, been thru it a lot. Feel better soon. Patti

You can have both of have a yeast set in quick and bad on metro. Go to vaginosis.com and read Dr. James Christian's article on BV. My dr explained it as sometimes being as simple as having an overgrowth of bacteria. Dr. Christian talks about vaginal ph. Being on the pill, being diabetic, being on Hormone replacement therapy , or simply imbalanced hormones can cause BV. There is a vaginal ph corrector called Refresh, by the same people that make Replens, the long lasting vaginal lubricant. I have used the Rephresh before for the very start of the vaginal irritation and it sometimes stop it from getting worse. My hormone have always been a mess. Anyway, you may have had both or the metro cause a rapid onset yeast, not really a technical term, but perhaps it should be. There are some bacteria strains listed as being causative of BV, that can be sexually transmitted, and also the protozoan called Trich.
It shouldn't mess up your fertility and these creams and gels are messy, but douching them out could run bacteria or yeast, further into the reproductive organs. I am pleasantly surprised how any of my drs or dentist will automatically when asked, give me some diflucan tablets, as I WILL get a subsequent yeast infection. Some hard core drs, won't, they wait for it to occur. I am red headed, fair skin, hormones a mess and on HRT, so I WILL get one and my drs are nice. I digressed here a bit, but read that article, it just explains several ways or reasons we get BV, and then a yeast. Patti ps yeast is a spore, and the body naturally has some yeast to work correctly, an overgrowth is a yeast infection. Spore multiply fast sometimes.

You are a saint! I've seen 5 seperate clinicians and an OB/GYN who have had me on antibiotics for the past nine months and have only had rotating and coinciding bouts of bv and yeast while doctors shrug and scribble more useless prescriptions. The one I expected the most out of (and paid the most) belly laughed when I said I had douched one time at the outset of this monster infection and more or less said, "Well, there you go, that's what did it." One doctor even prescribed my boyfriend Flagyl and told us not to have sex for 6 weeks. It's like the doctors know as little as their miserable, uninformed clientele. The article you recommended was more useful than anything I've heard for nearly a year now! And I will be asking my doctor for diflucan!
I have a question for you, too. I'm beginning to think my hormones might be to blame for all my recent trouble but how do you determine a thing like that, and what can you do about it?? I imagine if I asked any of the doctors I've been dealing with they would brush it off or charge the other arm and leg just for an answer.

I was told to only use the gel for 7 days every night before bed and starting at day 5 I started knoticing the discharge I'm now on day 6, how long will it usually take to go away? Will it be after I stop the gel? I have no odor or irritation just the discharge?

Yeast infections are literally a type of yeast. On the tongue it's called thrush. It occurs in moist areas with antibiotics, diabetes and sometimes just because. It is not an STD. Even nuns get it. In your case, it's most likely because your antibiotic killed the good bacteria with the bad making it easy for the yeast to start.
