I am currently weaning off this poison and am currently taking 12.5mg once daily. I would like to wean down to 6.25, then stop completely.
Metoprolol - Does anyone know if you can quarter metoprolol succ ER? I am weaning off?

Hi there! Did you end up stopping it? Just wanted to see if you have any update. My mom is in the same situation and she wants to stop it. She’s experiencing horrible side effects. Thanks!

Per package insert, metoprolol succinate extended-release tablets can be divided in half. However, the half tablet should be swallowed whole and not chewed or crushed. Therefore, the half tablet cannot be broken down into smaller portions.

I originally started at 25 mg, then weaned down to 12.5 for the past week. Today I started at 6.25 and will continue for the next week, then stop completely. I have talked to a pharmacist and he said, it would be fine to quarter them, as long as you can do it evenly.
