Can I take metoclopramide hcl on an as needed basis like after I eat and feel too full?

If I feel overly full and become so nauseous I feel ready to vomit because of my stomach wanting to digest too slowly. I sometimes take my metoclopramide hcl after I feel this way. I discontinued daily use due to doctors orders. I want to know if it is still beneficial if it’s taken on an as needed basis?
