Does anyone know the manufacturers of Imipramine (Tofranil)?
I believe whoever was manufacturing has sold it to another company. I have been on the drug for depression 3 times previously, last time was 2012. Chose to take Tofranil again recently after trying others and for some reason isn't working this time. I am certain this drug has been altered and is been manufactured with different ingredients for it to be do very different now. Also the color of the pill is much lighter, now a light orange.
Many thanks if anyone has the information.

I believe the pill you are taking is manufactured by Sandoz... that is the pill I have been looking for and can't find. Since the pandemic I have had to stop taking Imipramine completely because the other manufacture (Leading Pharma) that my pharmacy has, does NOT work at all like the Sandoz pill. Years ago the pharmacy changed to Leading Pharma (dark red pill) and it did not work at all for me... but the pharmacist told me they would just order the other manufacture for me... and they have been. But now they say it is unavailable and can't get it. :( Madamcr... what pharmacy do you go to? Maybe I need to switch...
Hi Mada ... I know that Wildcat knows the facts and is always right, meaning he does NOT say whatever... he researches everything... So it is all facts ! I myself have never ever had a problem with different manufacturers... For me they all work the same. I have seen many people here say that different manufacturers don't work the same. And I also agree with Wildcat as to the difference is not in the prescribed drug itself its ONLY with the fillers ect ... meaning what else they combine with the ACTUAL drug itself. SO my thinking is (but I could be wrong) is if you are getting the main ingredient, the main drug itself, you should get the same results. Good Luck and let us know how you are doing ...
Hi, Madamcr.
All generics must be federally approved to contain the same active ingredient although the fillers and inactive ingredients may vary. You can ask your pharmacist who manufacturers the pills you received and it should also be printed on the bottle's label.
Are you on the same dose as you were taking previously?
Another way to identify your pills is to use these links... then click on "Pill Imprint" and it'll show drug information and who manufacturers it:
https://www.drugs.com/tofranil-images.html
https://www.drugs.com/imipramine-images.html
I believe these are only U.S. companies so if you live outside the States you might ask your pharmacist for more information.
Best regards and happy hunting!
Another way is to use the Pill Identifier:
https://www.drugs.com/pill_identification.html
Type in the color, shape, and any imprint on your tablets then click on Pill Imprint.
Thank you so much and yes, I am on same dose.
