Lorazepam is in a class of drugs called Benzodiazepines, they are primarily used as a anti anxiety medication, there are many other uses for this drug, muscle relaxer is just one of them. They are highly additive, so there usage should be restricted to short term or as needed basis.
Actually the benzos act as muscle relaxers. They are seldom used as them because of the dependence issue.
Lorazepam is an anti anxiety medication also known as ativan. No its not really a muscle relaxer, but maybe a brain relaxer.
