I am on week seven of sertraline. I started on 25mg for the first week then moved up to 50mg.
Side effects for me started during the first week. Nausea, a funny stomach and three days of increased anxiety ( days 12,13,14)On day 15 the anxiety lifted and I felt much better. The nausea and funny tummy continued in to week 4 but gradually got better and now on week 7 I have no side effects.
Everyone is different though! My daughter started Zoloft before me and had no side effects whatsoever.
The best thing to do is read the positives reviews on this site. I literally read them every day! I heard others talk about similar side effects which made me feel reassured that what I was going through was normal.
It would be great if these medications worked instantly without side effects but for the most part they take time, on average 6-8 weeks, before taking full effect. I felt much better by week 3 but some people feel better sooner than that. Others take longer. Give it time and believe in the process. If you have any concerns at all please talk to your doctor.
Good luck and let us know how you are going.
Initial side effects should subside the first week, if they persist do inform your Dr..
