I'm asking this question for a friend. He is 53 years old, just had foot surgery and the doctor prescribed fluconazole 150 mg tablet. He is a diabetic and been having problem with high blood sugar. He is having some side effects and was wondering how long this medicine will stay in his system.
Thank you for any help with his question.

I was giving 1 tablet of
Fluconazole for a yeast infection
I'm 52
How will this help me
It is probably not the fluconazole, but the surgery causing the high blood sugar. It is probably part of the reason the dr put him on it. Surgery and then a high blood sugar is an invitation for fungal infection. The bodies normal reaction to any trauma is to raise the blood sugar. In people without diabetes this means nothing to us, but to a diabetic it often means a need for more medication for the blood sugar for a short period of time. Your friend should call the dr who treats his diabetes and see what he wants him to do.
thanks for the info kaismama. his doctor put him on a higher dose of metformin which he takes 1,000 mg twice a day. he and I was wondering how long fluconazole stays in his system because of some of the side effects he's having (vomiting, tiredness, not able to taste his food, mood swings and itching.)
It's going to be in his body about 6 days.
thank you
