I had been prescribed clonazepam for 20 years and I recently changed to a new mental health nurse who wanted to switch me to Xanax XR. I read articles and was reassured by her that I would have no withdrawals because it's extended release. I switched 9 days ago and on the 5th day I felt absolutely horrendous. Lived through the torture for 3 full days until the nurse told me yesterday to switch back to Klonopin. I have been back on Klonopin for about 20 hours, but my heart rate and anxiety are still not good. Is there a period of time that it takes for levels to restore to my normal?
How long does it take for clonazepam to fully restore to your system?

I was on klonopin for 3 years last week my doctor switched me to Ativan ( lorazepam) and I was a total mess, I was on it for a week, she switched me back to klonopin, I have been back in it for 4 or 5 days now and I'm still not back to myself, I was perfectly fine before the switch and now I'm not , I have been asking the same question on how long it will take to build back up in my system but not getting any answers , best of luck to us both
I have been on clonazepam for 20 years too, and I suggest you wait a couple of days until your organism gets enough of the medication (benzo) in your system, you will be fine.
