And water tastes strange. I has a sour-like taste and also taste of like a coin. Is this from the lithium or something else? Please explain.

I can't explain it but yes, this can be a side effect of lithium. If you just started the medication it might be temporary resolving within a few days to a week or so.
For the dry mouth try glycerin lozenges, hard candies, or OTC products like Biotene.

This is a common side effect of lithium. It is dehydrating and salt should not be greatly reduced in your diet. I can't say what the "sour" taste is or the "coin", but certain organs affected by lithium (such as kidney and thyroid) and dehydration in general may play a role.
