I just started taking Lexapro 10mg for my depression and anxiety and I've noticed that I can't maintain focus on one thing, my mind constantly races. But it's racing with things that remind me why I'm depressed. The other day I had a full blown anxiety attack as soon as I walked through the door. I know it takes a few weeks for the drugs to kick in, but the side effects started immediately such as the headaches, nausea and loss of appetite. Also, did anyone notice lack of motivation too? I have absolutely no desire to any of my day to day activities, I don't even want to get out of bed each day. I've also noticed that since I have started taking it, my mouth feel constantly clinched.
Does Lexapro cause your mind to race?

I don't know if it does or not. But a condition called Bipolar does definitely.
Sounds like anxiety. Not necessarily bi polar. Did you have these thoughts before? In the beginning medications can make anxiety worse before it gets better. I don't have experience with lexapro. But have had similar experiences on other meds. Could be amping up your anxiety. Talk to your dr. They may want to switch you or decrease your dose.
Have you gotten any better? I'm supposed to start on celexa tonight and I'm so scared
No I haven't gotten any better. My mind is constantly racing. Whenever I'm at work I can't stay focused on one task. I'm literally all over the place.
I apologize if it sounded as if she was bipolar. It just gets to me that there is so much stigma concerning bipolar. Doctors are handing out antidepressants and antianxiety meds like candy... when a simple visit to a psychiatrist could rule out bipolar. I can't count on both fingers and toes how many i went to that never mentioned the possibility. But in my era... I am 64 and look back now and see the symptoms as far back as the age of 18... it was taboo to see a psychiatrist. A lot of mental illnesses can't be seen on a person... therefore the stigma.
Forgot to say lexapro did nothing for me.
Just started taking lexapro with same symtoms. Just wondering are you still taking it, are symtoms any better. I dont want to continue lexapro if it's a losing battle.
