I have been taking 20mg Lexapro for 12 years. My Doc prescribed it when I was having a difficult time after being laid off from a 20 year career. I really don't know if taking it helped me, but I continued it for all these years and im not sure why. Now Im trying to decide if I should continu taking it or stop.
Lexapro, how do I decide if I should stop taking?

ask your Dr and taper real slow it`ll save a lot of roughness

As masso said, this is a decision that you'll need to discuss with your doctor. Whether it helped you or not in the past isn't really the question but whether it's needed or not now is the question. One option would be to taper off on a schedule under your doctor's supervision then if your symptoms recur you can always start the medication again.

Life is funny and moves so quickly. I made a decision to a suggestion my doctor had for me based of what was happening 12 years ago, and I cant remember what those feels were.

It all comes down to how you feel mentally, only you know the answer to this question.
I personally can not decide for you and say "yes" or "no", I am not your Dr. and do not know your medical background/history.
You must decide along with your Dr. if you need to take it or not, what the pros and cons of continuing or stopping are, again, only you can decide.
