... said 20mg is the max. I have been taking it since Jan 2018, and have trouble sleeping, and feel anxious everyday and have shakes most mornings. I told my doc and he says increase it. I think I need a diff med. Any suggestions for anxiety meds that do not have tinnitus as a side effect as I have that too.

I take Buspar 60mg along with 20mg Lexapro. Works wonders for my anxiety.

The guidelines state that the maximum dose is 20 mgs. However some doctors increase it to 30 mgs sometimes. It might work for you, but this dosage wasn’t tested in clinical trials so there is no proof that it could achieve a therapeutic effect and it will definitely increase the chances or severity of the possible side effects. If you had good results from this medication for a long time and then these good effects started diminishing then yea maybe start taking 30mgs. However if it never really worked for you, going from 20 to 30mg wouldn’t really make that big of a difference so it would probably be better to start trying another medication instead.

Talk to your Dr about trying lorazepam. It works wonderfully for my anxiety. Like you, I would be nervous about going beyond the guidelines. Best of luck to you. I hope you and your Dr can get you better❤️

Thank you, I have been taking it since Jan this yr and I still feel very anxious and have side effects. I think it should be changed. My dr had me taking ativan since nov 2017 and want to switch that it to clonazepam which he tried me on but i did not like it. the ativan worked the best and i have taken 1/2ml evrery other day. I would like to just keep the ativan and try a herbal medicine to increase my serotonin.

Thank you too Whitefish, How long have you taken Ativan? I have been for awhile and it works the best. Even my mood improves, I feel happier, calmer and more like doing stuff. My mom has taken 2ml at least 30yrs every day which seems scary to me, but if it works with no side effects then maybe it is best. I only take 1/2ml every other day and it helps a lot.

Hi, I have been taking Ativan for over 4 years. It does wonders for my anxiety. I take one 1mg tablet two or three times a day. Typically I only take 2 per day. I’ve never had my dose adjusted in all this time. I am very pleased with how well it works. Best of luck to you both
