i was given Klonopin to take as PRN and want to make sure that I don't take too much and then get called suicidal due to high emotinal state. So how much is too much? I have taken up to 3mg at one time with no problem. But only supposed to take .5mg at bedtime if needed but with stress going on in live they have increased all meds and re-added Klonopin which i had just gone off of after 3 years of being on it daily. This seems like a step backwards.

The most I ever took in a two hour window was about 13 grams. I didn't start off with 13, but I was experiencing the worst panic attack yet, after 15 years with it, and I popped two more doses of 4 mg, and a 1mg pill later.
I've been taking the drug for my anxiety for about five years, and my daily dose ranges from 2-4.5g, which I have a script for. I've never taken that much before but 10g and 8g a few times.
I personally just felt tired but not really enough to sleep. I was cognizant and felt like I could do most things aside from driving. I didn't experience a euphoria from the benzo. Oddly, I never have.
Klonopin is extemely potent (20 times more potent than Valium) and should be taken as directed. I am currently on 1.67 mg. of Klonopin and it is too much. I would take as little as I needed to get by.
Also, it generally should NOT be used long-term. It has not been studied for longer use than 9 weeks. Normal prescribed use is for 2-4 weeks.
I took 20+ MGS ONCE WEN GOING THRU DEPRESSION. WENT TO HOSP I WAS FINE.
NORMALLY IM ON 2 MGS A NIGHT TO HELP ME SLEEP BUT THERE HAVE BN RECENT STUDIES THT SHOW IT CAN LEAD TO DEMENTIA LATER ON IN LIFE. IVE BEEN WEENING OFF THEM BUT STILL NEED THE ODD ONE HERE N THERE
1.67 mg? How did your doc happen to prescribe this dose? Didn't know a .67 or 1.67 pill was even produced? Just a very puzzling dose you are taking.
Contrary to what people have been told, klonopin is not that strong. It has a long half life, but it’s potency is fairly average if not weak. If you took 2mg of Xanax it would likely knock you on your ass. 2mg of klonopin and it’ll contain your anxiety but there’s no real comparison. And I’m not trying to sound rude but why are you on an odd numbered dosage? That can’t even be accurately measured so it’s hard to take you seriously, no offense. That being said, everyone is different.
If you are prescribed .5 mg, then that is what you need to take. There is a reason why doctors prescribe the amounts that they do. Klonopin is an addictive drug, and as you increase the dosage, the more resistant your body will become, therefore having to increase your dosage in order to calm down. Trust me, take your prescribed dose.
I am supposed to take a 1 mg 3 times a day but have had times where one or two more were needed which my doctor told me was fine... actually he told me to carry a few extra in my wallet in case I felt I needed them.
I take 2mg 3 times a day and some people may consider that very high. It works very well for me, and is the only benzodiazepine that calms me down and reduces my very high pulse tremendously. I haven't encountered any bad side effects from ths drug. It's been a life-saver for me.
That is a LOT of clonazapam! Not trying to instill a scare story but when it comes time to come off, it will be very, VERY difficult. Don't know you but I would be deeply concerned. This is coming from someone that has experienced withdrawal after long term benzo use.
It really doesnt matter how high or low your dose is coming off. Some people have terrible withdrawals coming off.025. It's all individual.
All depends everyone metabolizes differently and if at a regular dose with out abusing it there will be no problem
