Before using itraconazole I was on ketoconazole 400mg. But because the doctor recommended a stronger medicine I am using that three days now.
Itraconazole - How long will take to clean off the fungus from my scalp?

did it cure your fungus on scalp. i am on itraconazole too for the same thing and was wondering if it helped?
The itraconazole only helped to keep the infection at bay, but didn't cure completely. In addition these pills have caused problems with liver (guess for not having taken them exactly as prescribed). Therefore I stopped taking them for almost 2 months now. But I think I will have to start to use them again very soon, because the shampoos itself are not quite efficient. Do you have itching on your scalp,or what are the symptoms?
i took the itraconazole for 7 weeks (two capsules a day). I am not sure if it killed the fungus. I have no itching, just had a spot with less hair suddenly. There is still no regrowth of hair that is why i am not sure if the itraconazole worked for me. I have to go the dermatologist again next month, but i hate taking this medicine. it makes me feel sick all the time
It will depend how persistent the fungal infection is.
Treatment with oral anti-fungals, such as Itraconazole, is usually given for four to six weeks, but could be longer. Oral anti-fungals are not always successful. Intermittent treatment may also be prescribed e.g. once weekly dosages, to keep the infection at bay.
