I refilled my generic Adderall the other day and the pharmacy had used a different manufacture because the pills were different this time. I already have an anxiety disorder but I have it controlled. After starting this new round of generic Adderall, I have had insane anxiety. I have spoke with the pharmacy just to make sure it was indeed generic Adderall they gave. Plus, I have Akathisia is finally being controlled and now I am having some symptoms of that also. I know it has to be the Adderall. Nothing else has changed. Is this a possibility that something is wrong with the med? I have been on Adderall for a while now so I know it is not that. I have to wonder if something isn't off about this prescription. Thoughts please. Thank you.
Issue with my generic Adderall med?

Hi, debbie!
Each manufacturer may use a different formulation of fillers, binders, colouring agents and so on although the active drug is the same in them all. The difference in the inactive ingredients may cause some people to not absorb the medication fully and metabolize it properly. That may be what's going on with you.
I'd suggest you ask the pharmacy to special order the product you were using that worked for you. Most will honor your request but you may pay just a little more at the counter. You might have to have your doctor send a script specifying that manufacturer only.
Best regards and good luck to you.

Thank you very much for that information. I had planned on asking them about going back to the other supplier. I have to ask, do you know anything about Akathisia? I am just trying to figure out why my symptoms would "flare up" just because they changed supplier. Does that make sense? It is just so frustrating because I have fought very hard to get things under control and it scares me that this has "messed with my world"... LOL!! I am a nurse, so I understand how crazy all of this sounds.
Thank you again.

"Akathisia is a movement condition where the patient feels a sense of restlessness, an inability to sit still and the urge to move. The most common cause of akathisia is a side effect of drugs including antipsychotics, antidepressants and antiemetics. Occasionally akathisia is induced as a withdrawal effect of certain drugs. Akathisia also can be seen in Parkinson-related conditions and untreated schizophrenia.
There are two aspects of akathisia the first is the sensory component which is the how the patient feels, the sensation of ‘wanting to jump out of their skin’ or in extreme cases 'sense of impending doom’. This inward discomfort can be relieved by body movement, often of lower limbs, and it is this movement component that is the second aspect of akathisia. In mild cases there may be just a small amount of body movement and in moderate cases the increased movement may involve shifting leg positions, crossing and uncrossing legs and pacing.
In more severe cases the movements can affect the whole body."
I don't understand either why it would suddenly flare up after long term use. It does seem awfully coincidental.
Sorry I can't help on that.
