The very issue with gluten products is it's hazard to those with celiac. Brands and products in general, will use cut corner gluten additives, to secure their sales or rather finance budget. Gluten is a wheat preservative as we know... key word PERSERVATIVE. Yes, so if you are having gluten like symptoms from a medication contact FDA, your provider and notify your pharmacy as well. There has to be more reported data about these experiences ppl with celiac conditions are having. If the manufacturer is ethical they will address the issue. Providing data regarding your experience helps the government to better do their job as well hence FDA. Further, pharmacist are only going by data themselves. So if, data is not current as it could change often, then... use your better judgement from your experience. Hope this helps & you feel better soon !
I, too, must be free of any gluten at all. I am getting very sick on it. Diarrhea, cramping and vomiting, as if I had eaten gluten. There is not a drop of gluten in my diet, and, since I've started this drug, I've been getting my typical gluten reaction. There must be some in it. Otherwise, I would not be getting this sick on it.
To make sure, call the Pharmaceutical company you are getting your medications from and ask them directly.
It doesn't really matter now. It does not stop my coughing at all, so why continue taking a prescription that gives me outsize reactions?
I am trying to be helpful, and by that, not that I expect anything from anyone, but usually people say "thank you"...
Sorry. I didn't mean to be rude. I'm just so frustrated!
I, too, would like to know the answer. I became nauseous, eyes burned, and loose bowels. My body thinks it has a gluten in it but the pharmacist doesn't see any gluten on his list. I need a better answer.
I would advise calling your pharmacist and asking him/her prior to having it filled. He/She should have access to the full ingredients.
Thank you... I looked on glutenfreedrugs.com and did not find the medicine listed there. The pharmacy I use does not want to be of much help at times and that is why I tried this route. Thanks again!
I would recommend a different pharmacy then! If you purchase your medications there they should be more helpful to you!
They are GF and also know as benzonate.
